Vladimir Mrša | Editor-in-Chief 2009-2024
Vladimir Mrša received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb in 1984. He joined Laboratory of Biochemistry, Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb in 1980 and was a full professor at the same Faculty since 1999. He conducted research in the field of protein glycosylation and secretion, as well as cell wall biosynthesis in fungi. Professor Mrša published 53 scientific papers and 2 patents, and was an invited lecturer at a number of domestic and international meetings. He was an active member of the Croatian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Croatian Microbiological Society and Croatian Society for Biotechnology. He was one of the founding members and the first president of the Croatian Association for Scholarly Communication (CROASC). From 2003 to 2007, Professor Mrša was the Dean of the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb, and a Vice Dean from 2011 to 2015. He was also member of the Croatian Academy of Engineering from 2013, and its secretary from 2018 to 2024.
Pavao Mildner | Editor-in-Chief 1983-2009
Pavao Mildner received his Ph.D. in 1956 at the University of Zagreb in Natural Sciences with a Thesis in organic chemistry. In 1957 he was elected assisstant professor of biochemistry at the Food Technology Department of the Techological Faculty, the University of Zagreb. He conducted research on the synthesis of new organic compounds and their inhibitory action in enzymes (catalase, lactoperoxidase). The main subject of his research was investigating the relations of structure and action of enzymes. Majority of his published papers contains methods of purification and physicochemical characteritzation of the enzyme yeast acid phosphatase, its glycosylation and factors influencing secretion of yeast extracellular glycoenzymes. From 1964 he was full professor of biocheistry at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, the University of Zagreb, and he retired in 1988. Prof. Mildner published 78 scientific papers and 5 patents.
From 1963 to 1982 he acted as the head of the Editorial Board, to become Editor-in-Chief in 1983, of the Food Technology and Biotechnology journal, formerly Prehrambeno-tehnološka i biotehnološka revija.
